A Day in the Windy City

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 both the Advanced Placement Studio Art students and French 3 & 4 students spent a culturally dynamic day in the Windy City. After exploring the Art Institute of Chicago and its beautiful new Modern Wing, students were treated to a birds eye view of the city along the new Modern Wing walkway which connects the Museum to Millennium Park. While at Millennium Park students and faculty had a chance to "reflect" on their day while looking at the Gateway sculpture, better known as "The Bean." Before heading home everyone feasted at a lovely, little French Restaurant that served up both crepes and French Culture.
Both Mrs. Shore and Mrs. Erickson- felt as if this trip helped students to see the connections between disciplines as well as helped them safely explore the world outside of Rock Falls. The teachers were amazed at the enthusiasm of the students and wish every trip in the future could be just like this one.
"I am so grateful that I was able to take these wonderful students to a wonderful city for a day. Both the city and the students inspired me and energized me to go back into the classroom and to create some more amazing art with my students." - Mrs. Shore
